I really do hate elitism in music, and here’s why.
To me, there is nothing that defines what music is and there’s nothing that defines how music is to be perceived. It doesn’t matter how much I personally dislike a particular artist or genre, Even when it comes to some of the pure mainstream drivel that I can’t stand, it doesn’t matter at all.
The beautiful thing about music in my eyes is its ability to touch people in any way, whether its music they cry to, laugh to, party to, groove to, etc. Any emotional reaction that somebody has to music is really quite a lovely thing.
No matter what their taste, everybody deserves to consume the music that affects them regardless of that music’s supposed level of quality.
I admit that I will talk down about certain bands, certain genres, certain types of fans (I did use the phrase “Pure mainstream drivel” just a moment ago) but when it comes right down to it, like anything, people’s personal choice in music should be respected if they genuinely appreciate it

Study music and you will learn that music CAN be defined, and it is not all created equal. However, by studying music, you will also learn to appreciate all kinds, even if you still have your favorites.
